SNU provides dormitory if you register for the regular program, which you can find the link at the end of the post. You can choose either the on-campus or the off-campus dorm, but when you are applying for it, just apply for both. In-case you didn't get the on-campus, at least you still got a chance to get the off-campus dorm. Which is my case, I wanted the on-campus dorm, but got the off-campus dorm instead ~.~
For the off-campus dorm, there is the single room or twin room. both is about 15 min away from school. For mine, I chosen the twin room because I am together with my friend :) and we gotten the same room! So for our dorm, is called Dragon Studio which is located at Sillim-dong.
They provide bed, closet, bookcase, desk, free Internet line, air conditioner, microwave oven, laundry machine, individual shower room and kitchen. While internet line is provided but router is not. You can either bring it from home or buy here. Just a reminder though, the instruction here is all in korean. And another thing is that you have to bring your own bed sheet and pillow as it is not provided. If you are going during the cold weather, not to worry as they have floor heater provided.
The bad thing about the dorm here is that you have to climb 2 quite steep slopes to get to the dorm, to the extent that once you go out, you wouldn't want to go back for awhile. Is either you go out for the whole day or just stay in the dorm....... Yeah, but on the other hand, Korea is all about slopes and stairs. So probably just for this week for us to get use to walking and climbing alot, as Singapore we are so pampered with just bus, flat ground and escalator, that we don't have to walk and climb stairs.

ReplyDeleteHi Valerie, i got the same situation with you. I will study the Korean course this summer at SNU and just accepted at Twin off compus dorm. Is the area quiet at night? If i go out, is it safe at night?
ReplyDeleteHi! The room is quiet good with air condition available during the summer period. The area is quiet at night but no worries, it is safe:) there will be security guard at the lobby everyday.

ReplyDeleteThe 2 slope up to the dorm is pretty steep. So for the first day you move in, i suggest that you take a taxi! and you can probably start doing some leg exercise starting from today, if not you will have muscle cramp for the 1st week~.~

DeleteHi. Thanks for your review. There is no picture on SNU page so thus helps me a lot. I have applied for the coming winter and spring regular courses and have applied for the dorm both on and off campus. And i got the off campus but the ctype. Which has 2 single beds but sadly they said that there are not 2 single beds and there is a double deck bed instead. I'm happy you said the dorm is good. But are the ctype and btype buildings separated? Or there are in one building?
